Wine regions and appellations
A wine route is a road to drive; an appellation is a protected name printed on the label. Cyprus has seven Protected Designations of Origin (PDO) for wine — two of them, Afames and Laona, are smaller areas inside a third, Krasochoria Lemesou — and four Protected Geographical Indications (PGI), one for each wine district. Two of the seven wine routes cross country that carries no appellation of its own.
