Ampeli

About Us

Ampeli is a working guide to the seven official Cyprus wine routes — the indigenous grapes, the mountain and coastal villages, the appellations, and the wineries that open their doors to visitors.

The route, region and grape-variety content is condensed from the Cyprus Tourism Organisation's official wine-route material. Appellation names and the main PDO/PGI rules were checked against published summaries of the EU geographical-indications register, and the list of registered appellations (seven PDOs, four PGIs and two spirit indications, Zivania and Ouzo) against the Cyprus Department of Agriculture’s viticulture and oenology page; for the legal text, consult the official eAmbrosia register.

Tasting notes, ageing guidance and food-pairing suggestions on the wine-style pages are general editorial guidance, not sourced data. Grape traits that no reliable published source documents (or where sources disagree) are marked “Not documented”.

The map is drawn by this website from open data: the coastline, roads, towns, reservoirs and village positions from OpenStreetMap (© OpenStreetMap contributors, Open Database Licence), and the relief from the Terrain Tiles open elevation dataset. Winery addresses, phone numbers and opening hours come from each winery’s own website or social media pages and its Google Maps listing, or from the winery itself, and may have changed since we checked them.

Ampeli is operated by MTC SAFETY MANAGEMENT LTD.; see the Legal Notice for the company’s details.
