Xynisteri grape

The indigenous white grape of Cyprus and the most widely planted white on the island.

Fresh, fruity and approachable; best drunk within a year of bottling. Many straight 100% bottlings exist, and it blends well with Semillon.

Also the principal white component of Commandaria. Under PDO rules for Laona Akama, Vouni Panagias–Ampelitis, Krasochoria Lemesou and Pitsilia, a dry white must be at least 85% Xynisteri.
