Promara grape

A rare white variety with large bunches and big berries.

Careful winemaking draws out citrus and floral aromatics. Its name means “the earliest”: the first Cypriot grape to ripen, picked in August. It can give opulent, layered whites, with ripe stone fruit, peach above all, among the aromas.

Withstands the dry weather and lime soils typical of Cypriot vineyards. One of the native varieties brought back in the 1980s by the oenologist Akis Zambartas; it still covers only a little under 0.2% of the island's vineyard.
